Programs

HRF’s programs are designed to further global understanding of recurring threats to freedom in the Americas. Our programs provide education about what constitutes a free society, why freedom matters, and how freedom is nurtured, developed, and sustained. We aim to inform leaders, experts, intellectuals, and concerned private citizens about how best to promote freedom and tolerance in troubled regions of the Americas.
  • HRF will research and report on human rights abuses with a particular focus on prisoners of conscience and political prisoners.

  • HRF will produce memoranda, independent analyses, and policy reports for the public, the media, academic communities, and decision-makers committed to defending human rights throughout the Americas. HRF staff will write and speak widely about the current crises, explaining their origins and history and discussing how best to create, restore, and expand human rights and democracy within the region.

  • HRF will inspire people to become more involved in and educated about threats to freedom in the hemisphere. HRF will host conferences and colloquia that heighten individuals’ factual and moral awareness of human rights violations.
